Kuwait City, 2012
For the 2012 edition of the Layali Febrayer Music and Poetry festival in Kuwait, one of the biggest events in the Gulf, ACT lighting design, in close collaboration with the producer of the show, Al Raisi Group, brought an innovative vision and renewed this year’s edition of the show with a combination of the richness of the oriental culture and the minimalism of geometrical shapes.
LED panels and cutting edge lighting equipment were suspended over the stage in staggered rows, creating a structure of geometrical relief giving the audience an impression of “full” and “empty” triangular shapes. The multi platform stage allowed the artists to position themselves at different levels. The stage was filled by a network of LED flex strips and was equipped with media tubes, in a pattern that reproduced the triangular shapes of on the ceiling. The major challenge was to find the right balance between the elements of a stunning scenography and multimedia content in order create a unique experience for both live and television audience of the show.
